God of War Laufey pre-orders are now live following their September 29 launch at 10:00 a.m. local time, and Santa Monica Studio has laid out what players can expect from the pre-order offer and Digital Deluxe Edition. The PS5 adventure is still set for February 16, 2027, but today’s update also brings the clearest look yet at Faye’s new combat rhythm, built around an enchanted Serpent Bow.
For anyone tracking the next big PlayStation release, this is the first practical buying update since September’s PlayStation announcements put Laufey firmly on the 2027 calendar.
God of War Laufey release date and pre-order timing
God of War Laufey will launch on February 16, 2027, exclusively for PlayStation 5 consoles according to the official PlayStation announcement. Pre-orders open on September 29 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
PlayStation has not published U.S. pricing in the announcement, so there is no verified price to report yet. That also means it is too early to make a reliable value comparison between the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions.
Pre-order bonus: what is included
Players who purchase the game before launch will receive the following items:
- Last Wish Armor Set
- Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, described as a cosmetic item
- In-game resource pack
For the physical Standard Edition, PlayStation notes that these items are provided through a download code. An internet connection and a PlayStation account are required. The announcement also states that the in-game items unlock through story progression, so they are not being presented as instant early-game power boosts.
Digital Deluxe Edition contents
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes a larger set of equipment and digital extras:
- Dark Alchemy Armor Set
- Dark Alchemy Blade
- Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
- Dark Alchemy Catalyst
- In-game resource pack
- Digital Mini Artbook
- Official God of War Laufey Digital Soundtrack
Santa Monica Studio also confirmed that armor can affect perks, stats, and appearance, while Faye’s blade, bow scales, and catalysts can be customized to support different playstyles. That makes the Deluxe bonuses more than a simple cosmetic bundle on paper, although the studio has not yet provided enough detail to judge how significant those differences will feel in the full game.

Faye’s Serpent Bow is built for two combat speeds
The biggest gameplay reveal in the new update is Faye’s Serpent Bow, an enchanted weapon that can shift from dormant to ready-to-fire almost instantly. PlayStation says it is designed to work in both close-quarters and ranged combat rather than forcing Faye into a single distance.
The bow has two confirmed aim modes:
- Full-aim: a more precise stance with increased draw distance. Hitting specific points on an enemy can impair movement or their ability to strike, creating an opening for a melee follow-up. Faye can also charge and stack up to five arrows for a single volley.
- Half-aim: a more mobile hip-fire stance that lets Faye release a cluster of arrows at close range.
The quick-fire mode is also designed to keep airborne enemies in play. Faye can juggle targets, extend combos, and swap between weapons and abilities without breaking the flow of the fight.

Arrow types, Serpent Scales, and build variety
Santa Monica Studio says the bow will support multiple arrow types, including rapid-fire, explosive, and multi-target options. Different Serpent Scales can change the weapon’s appearance and specialize its playstyle through a unique perk. The bow will also have unlockable skills that expand its capabilities over time.
That system sits alongside Faye’s broader gear customization. Her armor, blade element, bow scales, and catalysts are all intended to shape how she approaches combat, which could give Laufey a more flexible build system than the series’ earlier Faye-focused material suggested.
What we still do not know
PlayStation has confirmed the release date, platform, pre-order contents, Deluxe contents, and several combat systems. It has not confirmed U.S. prices, a full list of retail editions, review or early-access details, or a complete breakdown of how progression and gear balance work.
For now, the useful takeaway is simple: pre-orders are live, and Laufey’s combat is shaping up around fast movement, aerial pressure, precision shots, and weapon customization. We’ll update this story when official pricing or additional editions are announced.
