The Biggest Games Coming in Early October
Gears of War: E-Day — October 6
One of the biggest October releases arrives on October 6. Gears of War: E-Day takes the series back to Emergence Day, fourteen years before the original Gears of War, with Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago at the center of the story.
Xbox lists the game for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with support for Xbox Play Anywhere and day-one availability through eligible Game Pass plans. For players waiting for a return to the series’ darker roots, E-Day is one of the month’s headline launches.
We have already covered the game in more detail in our Gears of War: E-Day preload guide.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer — October 6
Star Wars: Galactic Racer also launches on October 6, bringing high-speed repulsorcraft racing back to the Star Wars universe. Lucasfilm Games confirms a worldwide release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The focus is on speed, vehicle handling, and competition rather than lightsabers or Force powers, making it one of the more distinctive releases on the October calendar.

October 8–9: A Strong Week for Nintendo Switch 2
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] — October 8
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] launches natively on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8. The bundle brings together the core collections and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind in one package, giving Switch 2 owners a more direct way to play through Sora’s main saga.
For RPG fans, it is one of the most recognizable additions to the Switch 2 library this month.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — October 9
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen follows on October 9 for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes it as an expanded version of the fantasy RPG, with a new snow-covered region, additional enemies, and new character customization options.
It gives Switch 2 another substantial RPG during a month already crowded with major launches.
Mid-October Releases to Watch
October is not built around a single genre. The middle of the month brings more variety, including Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on October 15. Nintendo’s October release roundup also highlights several smaller releases around the same period, giving players a mix of action, RPG, rhythm, and adventure games.
That variety is why a monthly release calendar is useful: not every game gets the same marketing push, but several smaller releases can still be worth adding to your wishlist.
Final Fantasy Resonance — October 22
Final Fantasy Resonance is one of the most interesting RPG releases late in the month. Nintendo describes it as the first Final Fantasy game presented in an HD-2D style, with turn-based battles and “Visions” inspired by characters from across the franchise.
The game is scheduled for October 22 on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. If you follow RPG releases closely, this is one of the dates to keep on your calendar.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — October 23
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23, bringing another major shooter franchise to Nintendo’s newer hardware. Nintendo’s official October roundup highlights campaign action across the Korean peninsula and beyond, multiplayer, and DMZ.
Even without looking at the rest of the platform lineup, this is one of the month’s biggest commercial releases and a significant addition to the Switch 2 catalog.
Late October: Minecraft and More
The last week of October stays busy. Minecraft arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27 with support for Vibrant Visuals, followed by Anomalith on October 28, Hello Kitty Party Land on October 29, and Goodboy Galaxy on October 30.
That gives Switch 2 owners releases nearly every few days as the month closes.
New PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2 Games in October
On Xbox and PC, Gears of War: E-Day is the major first-party release to watch on October 6. PS5, Xbox, and PC players also get Star Wars: Galactic Racer on the same day.
Nintendo Switch 2, meanwhile, has one of the busiest platform-specific October schedules, with Kingdom Hearts, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Final Fantasy Resonance, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Minecraft, and several additional releases spread across the month.
